First Announcement - International Conference ON SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT of tropical forests

The Conference endeavours to foster partnerships among stakeholders in the forestry and timber industry, aiming to promote collaboration for the conservation of tropical forests through the advancement of sustainable forest management and responsible business practices. Recognising the intricate interdependencies within complex forest ecosystems, the paradigm shift in forest resource utilisation and effective sustainable management requires collective efforts. This platform brings together experts, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders to explore the vital connection between forestry and sustainable development, working towards a holistic strategy crucial for preserving the long-term vitality of tropical forests.

COURSE FEE FOR SKILLS TRAINING PROGRAMMES BY STA TRAINING SDN BHD

We would like to inform that with effect from 1 January 2024 the course fee for all skills training will be charged at RM750 per day per skills set for STA Member, and RM1,500 per day per skills set for Non-Member (inclusive of members’ contractor & sub-contractor who are not STA members). Kindly note that the maximum number of participants per session is 15 pax. This is to ensure effective training and sufficient practical time for forest workmen.

Sarawak Timber Association (STA) Membership Renewal for year 2024

Members are reminded that all STA Membership will expire on 31 December 2023.

All payments are due on 1 January 2024. However, in accordance to Clause 6(4) of STA Constitution, members are given a grace period of 30 days that is, by 31 January 2024 to effect payment.

The Key Challenges and Difficulties of International Cooperation in Timber Supply Chains

Dato Henry Lau, Chairman of STA participated in the Global Legal & Sustainable Timber Forum 2023 at Galaxy International Conventional Centre Macao, China on 21 November 2023. He presented a paper entitled “The Key Challenges and Difficulties of International Cooperation in Timber Supply Chains” during the Session III: Global Cooperation and Sharing Platform for the Timber Industry.

stat is participating in the National training week 2023

The Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia is organising the National Training Week 2023 (NTW2023) from 22 - 28 May 2023, featuring government ministries and agencies, industry players, industry associations, academia and training providers. During the NTW2023, the training courses will be offered complimentary to Malaysian individuals and industry players (employers, industry associations and business chambers). The NTW2023 is a government’s initiative to provide a platform for all course providers to offer relevant courses based on the government’s economic agenda which aims to raise employer awareness on the skills courses available as well as to address skills gaps and recruit the right employees.
